Oceanside will spend $15 million to upgrade its beachfront promenade after the City Council approved a general obligation bond on February 18 by a 4-1 vote, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The bond will fund new lighting, restrooms, and erosion barriers along 2.5 miles of shoreline, addressing damage from the January 2026 El Niño events, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Construction is slated to begin in the summer of 2026, with funding partially sourced from state coastal grants.
